Must be available on a Tuesday 2.00pm – 8pm for delivery within the Bramley area (May be subject to change depending on demand for the service) What will the role look like? Barca offer a social / support group for young people aged 13 -16 who identify as LGBTQ. The purpose of the group is to provide a safe space where young people can come together with the facilitation of qualified youth workers to access peer support, activities, emotional wellbeing and advocacy support. The purpose of this role is to provide up to 12 sessions of 1:1 counselling for the young people who are accessing the group who feel they would benefit from more focussed therapeutic support. In addition, referrals for LGBTQ young people who are not accessing the group aged 13 – 25 who are struggling with their mental health will also be accepted. What we are looking for? We are looking for qualified counsellors who would like a voluntary role and have an interest in supporting young people and young adults within a community setting. This role is also open for applications from a Counselling / Psychotherapy student preferably within their 2nd year (may consider 1st year students if they have considerable experience of working with young people / young adults). There will be a contribution of up to £75 per month towards clinical supervision costs and volunteer travel expenses Applicants must demonstrate within their application how they meet the requirements as listed in the Personal Specification and Job Description. Applicants will also need to demonstrate a good understanding of the particular factors and issues faced by children and young people in relation to the maintenance of good mental health and emotional wellbeing and the particular challenges faced by those within the LGBTQ community.
