This role is based onsite at our site in 7 Brixton Street, Christchurch, NZ
About the Role:
Here at Thermofisher Scientific we are a small team who manufacture Protein separation and animal sera for global clients, producing high value product in demand globally. This is done in a large, purpose built, modern production environment in the biotech industry.
What you'll do:
The role sits within the manufacturing operations team and is an active, on your feet, and at times repetitive role, requiring flexibility and observation. You will adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and understand cGMP principles (current Good Manufacturing Practices). You will also positively contribute to a cohesive and friendly team, and be able to communicate effectively within a group or when completing tasks independently. Some additional lab work will be included in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To be trained in several serum processes, taking full responsibility of the task when confident, working alone or working as a team to get all manufacturing tasks done.
2. Record manufacturing processes in real time and accurately, in batch manufacturing records and following SOP standards.
3. Ensure production plant hygiene and housekeeping is always maintained.
4. Update SOP’s, batch sheets and Hazard ID’s as required.
Keys to Success:
Education:
Academic qualifications – Minimum NCEA Level Two, or Sixth Form Certificate, Tertiary qualification, preferably in science is a bonus. This is not essential though as training will be provided.
Skills and Experience:
1. Experience working within a production manufacturing environment or laboratory environment would be an advantage, but is not essential as we will train and provide the opportunity to gain the required skills. We also offer further online training within the business.
2. Ability to collaborate openly, comfortably and authoritatively with diverse groups of people.
3. Good interpersonal skills - both written and verbal - and have a common-sense approach with the ability to multi-task.
4. A natural problem solver with strong decision-making skills and excellent attention to detail.
5. Motivated approach to get the tasks completed with the ability to empower others within the team.
6. Demonstrate flexibility whilst maintaining a good work/life balance and take ownership of your work output. We will guide you and provide you with the opportunity to grow and improve your skills, and value your input in continuous process improvements.
7. Must be physically fit and be able to lift 20kg.
