We are currently welcoming applications for a part time Dietetic Assistant Practitioner.
You would be joining our specialist mental health dietetic team working within the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust based at the Bethlem Royal Hospital in Beckenham, Kent.
Who are we looking for?
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Prior experience of working in the health and/or social care field, together with health care professionals and interacting with service users and carers is a requirement along with a keen interest in nutrition and its importance in health and wellbeing. You will need to be proficient using computers including Microsoft Office software and have experience managing databases and therefore have proficient numeracy skills, along with strong organisational and prioritising skills. About the role
The role will be variable, and includes managing the dietetic outpatient clinics for Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Croydon by facilitating triage and booking of all appointments, requiring liaison with referrers, patients, carers and the dietitians holding the clinics. The candidate will also play a key role in facilitating Personal and Public Involvement initiatives in order to review and co-produce dietetic care pathways ensuring that satisfaction with the service we provide is high and includes outcomes which are meaningful to those who use our services. Within the inpatient setting the candidate would provide valuable support by assisting dietitians with patient assessments, and reviews, audits and service evaluations and will liaise with ward staff, carers and other stakeholders such as the catering team.
About Us
We are a pro-active, supportive and friendly dietetics team. You would be an integral part of the team, collaborating closely with the dietitians, providing support to service users to assist in addressing their nutritional and dietetic needs. We provide specialist mental health dietetic services in the community via dietetic clinics for working age adults. And our inpatient services span psychiatric intensive care, acute, and rehabilitation wards, forensic medium and low secure services, older people’s services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services as well as National and Specialist Services.

· To be an integral part of the dietetic team, supporting excellence in nutrition and dietetic care for all service users within the clinical remit.
· To work alongside and under the supervision of qualified dietetic staff to support service users with their nutrition and dietetic needs.
· To contribute to trust staff awareness, understanding and implementation of the trust nutrition policy, including facilitating the smooth running of the Trust Nutrition Steering Group Meetings in support of the Chair and other key MDT stakeholders.
· To contribute to some clinical projects and delivery of defined training packages, alongside and under the supervision of qualified dietetic staff to support staff training and service users with their nutrition and dietetic needs.
· To support the development, knowledge and use of the menus, which provide nutrition and hydration within the clinical remit together with the trust lead catering dietitian and trust stakeholders.
· To provide the administration of and regular Personal and Public Involvement consultations to review, develop and deliver, together with dietetic colleagues, dietetic care pathways which support under, over and disordered eating for service users living in the community.
· Support the service by ensuring the Nutrition & Dietetic Services resources are up-to-date and accessible to MDT staff via the department intranet sharepoint page.
· To carry out administrative tasks related to providing this service.
