We are currently recruiting a Regional Guarding Manager to be accountable for guarding capability across the central region in both convenience and large format, and support delivering the UK Guarding & Security Strategy.
You will drive operational improvement standards with guarding suppliers to support with implementing and developing continuous transformation within the region and lead the relationship & collaborate with our regional guarding suppliers and external partners to ensure the service received is industry leading.
You will be responsible for
* Be a trusted guide on guarding processes critical metric completion, coverage escalation, protecting personal safety, usage of safety & security equipment and conflict resolution.
* Be a trusted guide on the Security Industry Authority, sophisticated guarding training, use of multifaceted risk assessment and conflict management training.
* Detailed knowledge of guarding opportunities for your region and a clear understanding of how to proactively resolve issues before they become risks.
* Apply detailed security and guarding knowledge across your region, ensuring feedback is provided to store teams and as the need arises and supporting them to find appropriate solutions to concerns.
* Be adaptable and collaborate closely with Incident Response Managers where a security guard is involved in a security incident. Reviewing the output of post incident reviews, being accountable for the quality of supplier investigations and ensuring next steps are completed by the guarding company.
* Provide mentoring on the Dynamic Risk Assessment (SAFER) we want to see, celebrating and challenging the behaviour of others as required to reduce preventable security incidents.
* Take ownership for continuous guarding improvement and drive standards utilising the critical metric feedback to build/follow-up action plans regionally.
* Produce regular reports to keep the field and retail team up to date on guarding projects, Preventability, important metrics, coverage and return on investment.
* Responsible for ensuring effective communication and intelligence sharing is in place between Security, Retail and the Hub within my region, including accurate reporting of incidents by our guards.
* Mentoring, supporting and leading mobile security teams to ensure an effective high performing team in my region, including taking the lead across operations such as protests, events, parades, festivals etc.
* Ensuring that you spend most of your time in critical/high risk security areas (bottom quartile).
* Be a trusted security guide, take ownership of your development by keeping up to date with the latest security trends via independent study/research and networking to improve your contribution.
* Ownership of any guarding related projects to support the delivery of continued transformation.
* Implementing any reductions or increases across your region in line with the risk matrix and leadership requests.
You will need
* Experience of shrinkage and security in a retail environment.
* Solid understanding of SIA.
* Line Management experience across large external teams.
* Experience of mentoring and engaging others.
* Confident presenting both in person and using technology.
* Partnering & influencing skills, able to engage multiple partners.
* Excellent planning and organisational skills.
* Experience of working with external suppliers.
* Excellent written communication.
