We are seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to enhance the excellence in teaching and research in Jewellery & Metal Design within DJCAD. The successful candidate would be expected to take an active role in the teaching of our successful Jewellery & Metal Design courses.
You will contribute to the development of the teaching, scholarship and research agendas, philosophy and strategies of the institution. Possessing considerable knowledge of the subject domain, you should be a team player, as well as demonstrating commitment and drive. You will enable students to develop and enhance their capacity to nurture their creative development and understanding in Jewellery & Metal Design, and to engage at an international level with peers in the creative industries and Higher Education. You will be expected to support colleagues in the strategic development of the core discipline.
Your priorities will include:
* Contribute to the development and delivery of undergraduate, taught postgraduate modules and programmes.
* Use innovative teaching methods to deliver high quality and effective teaching at all levels to equip students with the skills, attributes and experience required for their future careers.
* Supervise research students (PhD and Professional Doctorate).
* Develop, lead and participate in research projects associated with Jewellery & Metal Design.
* Contribute to the research culture of the school through participation in workshops and seminars organised to allow discussion about research issues and by aligning with a research group to support mentoring of developing researchers.
Who we're looking for:
* Extensive knowledge of theory and practice in Jewellery & Metal Design.
* Evidence of innovative, excellent learning and teaching practice and reflection on modules, programmes or university-wide initiatives, including cross-School collaborations at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
* The ability to motivate students and colleagues by demonstrating leadership in your subject and to work as part of a team to meet and promote University goals.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills enabling the development of effective working relationships with students, colleagues and external stakeholders.
