The role of the Area Maintenance Leader is to lead and manage the reliability and performance of the site's asset through systems and processes ensuring continuous improvement by preventing and mitigating risks and costs associated with failures and disruptions to production and maximising up-time. The role requires a strong background in engineering and understanding of reliability principles.
Responsibilities
1. Provide leadership and direction to engineers and technicians to create a culture which ensures that people are kept safe, engaged, focused, developed and delivering to their potential.
2. Creation of Task and Area based Risk Assessments for planned work tasks.
3. Quality and Food Safety:
Ensuring you and your team are working within the Engineering Quality Procedure in the Quality Manual. Ensuring Workshop areas are maintained.
4. Reliability Engineering:
Working with Reliability Engineering Manager to create the site's reliability strategy. Reducing Reactive work and creating a proactive approach to maintenance. Utilizing Assets Structures, Asset Criticality, Spare Parts Management, PM creation and Optimisation and Failure Mode Effect Analysis. Working with third party contractors for Reliability tools such as Vibration Analysis, Thermal, Oil analysis and Ultrasonic. Managing Obsolescence of site equipment and creation of mitigation strategies for this.
5. Work Planning, Scheduling and Execution:
Creating a defect Handling System lead through the Area Maintenance Technicians to ensure that all defects are planned and executed in a timely manner and with co-ordination with operations. Ensuring the work of the Area Maintenance Technicians are to the correct standard, including Work Audits and Work Order Audit.
6. Problem Solving:
Ownership of the departments Problem Solving, including the coaching and close out of timely problem-solving activities. Ensuring that problems are solved at the correct levels within the department and empowering people to take decisions.
7. Line Management of Area Maintenance Technicians and Apprentices:
Holiday management as per Holiday Policy. Absence management of shift including absence investigations. Performance and Behavioural Management.
8. Project and CAPEX Management:
Prioritising, Planning, Cost evaluating and completion of Minor Projects. Including cost management, contractor management, project success and project management.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1. Relevant Qualifications (HNC, HND, Degree level).
2. NEBOSH Certified with sound knowledge of behavioural safety at a site level.
3. Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing and Best Practice Maintenance.
4. Experience of creating a Lean enterprise culture.
5. Able to set, manage and optimise maintenance budgets.
6. Experienced in the use and operation of CMMS.
7. Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
8. Project Management, ideally with some project management certification.
9. Able to mentor and support younger engineers with the desired career path.
10. Reliability Management expertise (FMECA, RCM, Tribology, CBM, TPM etc).
