Irish Sea HSSE Assistant
Location: Birkenhead or Belfast
Salary: £27,000 - £29,000 (DOE)
Contract: 6 month secondment
An opportunity has arisen for a 6-month placement in the role of HSSE Assistant, where you will play a crucial part in supporting our Port Safety and Security team. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the administration and maintenance of the Safety Management System, supporting compliance efforts, managing safety documentation, and helping to promote a positive safety culture across our Ports & Terminals. You will also provide key administrative support, coordinate meetings, and contribute to HSSE inspections and audits.

Some of your key responsibilities:
* Provide day-to-day administrative support for the Safety Management System.
* Assist the Group Head of Port Safety & Security in developing, implementing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs & PSOPs).
* Support the HSSE team in ensuring legal compliance.
* Maintain and update safety documentation, including incident reports, training records, and inspection findings.
* Analyse safety data trends, prepare reports, and coordinate with Port Management on corrective and preventive actions.
* Provide administrative support to the HSSE department, including report preparation, correspondence management, and meeting coordination.
* Promote a strong safety culture within Stena Line Ports & Terminals, encouraging safe behaviours and best practices.
* Assist with HSSE inspections and audits as needed.
What You Will Experience:
As a key member of the HSSE team, you’ll be responsible for supporting the implementation of health, safety, security, and environmental standards across our Ports & Terminals. Your role will focus on maintaining safety documentation, assisting with compliance processes, and contributing to inspections and audits to ensure a safe and secure working environment.
You will also play an active role in promoting a positive safety culture, working closely with colleagues to uphold best practices and support continuous improvement in HSSE performance.

Requirements:
* Proficiency in Office 365 applications, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel.

* Willingness to travel occasionally across the network as required.
