Job Summary:
The Supportive Housing Assistant Manager provides support to the Housing Program Manager in overall daily operations of the Housing staff. The Supportive Housing Assistant Manager will assist with supervision to staff while also managing a caseload of clients. The Supportive Housing Assistant Manager will ensure that staff are educated on Housing First principles and they are followed consistently with our clients. Other areas of focus include but are not limited to supporting the development of staff skills, ongoing staff education, and assisting with annual performance reviews for assigned staff.
Qualifications:
* A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field preferred. A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience is preferred. Prior experience working with homeless services is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
* Excellent engagement, written and verbal communication skills and documentation skills.
* Ability to work independently with strong focus, task oriented, non-judgmental and able to set clear boundaries.
* Knowledge of and/or informed practice of motivational interviewing, trauma informed care, etc.
* Possession of a valid NYS driver’s license and a driver’s record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier and availability of a car for daily use including transporting clients to appointments, etc.
Essential Responsibilities:
* In the absence of the Supportive Housing Program Manager and under their guidance, serves as the on-site manager. Offers daily support and assistance to the direct service staff.
* Observe, monitor, document and report resident progress and behaviors that negatively impact housing. Under the direction of the Supportive Housing Program Manager, supervise client care, activities, building maintenance and physical plant.
* Supports and participates in the maintenance, development and implementation of housing first program practices, policies, and procedures.
* Assist in the process of required monthly chart audits as well as random chart reviews. Provides constructive feedback to Housing Stability Coordinators ensuring charts are compliant with HUD and COC standards.
* Participates in weekly team case conference meeting and assists and ensuring attendance of program staff at regular community meetings, operations meetings, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
* Participates in Performance Improvement process of agency. Align with the vision of the agency while creating and maintaining an environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and positive work environment.
* Assists to ensure staff complies with mandated orientation, education, and have timely performance appraisals while motivating staff to their full potential by providing a positive work environment atmosphere. Assists staff in identifying their developmental goals and provide ongoing guidance to assist in achieving.
* Assist in responding to and investigates landlord and/or client complaints in a timely fashion.
* Participates in the interviewing process.
* Share in the on-call responsibilities of the program as designated by the on-call rotation.
* Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
