Main duties of the job
We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity to lead our echocardiography education programme at University Hospital Southampton. This advanced level role demands a highly experienced, organised, and motivated individual, with a passion for teaching.
We are a vibrant and diverse department, with BSE departmental accreditation in transthoracic, transoesophageal, stress echocardiography, and training. We collectively perform around 30,000 echocardiograms annually on all ages and pride ourselves on developing advanced roles within our team.
Job responsibilities
Your time will be split between performing and reporting high quality adult echocardiograms to BSE standards, organising and maintaining a programme of echocardiography training, and expert level teaching, supervision and mentorship for those training in echocardiography. The post holder will be expected to teach and support junior members of our team through BSE Level 2 accreditation, as well as support specialist registrars and other healthcare professionals in obtaining various levels of proficiency. An active involvement in the British Society of Echocardiography accreditation process is desirable.
Qualifications, knowledge and experience
* BSc Clinical Physiology or qualifying equivalent qualification
* Level 2 TTE British Society of Echocardiography Accreditation (or equivalent)
* RCCP/HCPC registration
* Intermediate Life Support Course
* Extensive and consolidated experience in technical cardiology/echocardiography
* High level knowledge of a wide range of cardiac physiology diagnostics/interventions
* Understands the role of cardiac physiology within the NHS
* MSc/STP equivalent expertise at this level
* Teaching or Assessing qualification
* Participation in cardiac research
* Tertiary cardiac physiology practice

Salary: £53,755 to £60,504 a year (Per Annum, PA Pro Rata)
