Job summary
The post will be based at the Sheffield Children's Hospital. The main purpose of the post is to provide a robust consultant body to maintain cover for PCCU and support Embrace, the regional paediatric critical care transport service.

A full day on ICU is PAs whilst a day covering HDU is PAs (to allow for flexibility daytime activity is averaged over a number of weeks).
To achieve a 10 PA job plan, the above allocation of PAs has been assigned.
The person appointed will take an equal share in providing on-call consultant cover for PCCU and will be required to provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence. He/she/they will have continuing responsibility for the patients in their care and for the proper functioning of the Critical Care Unit.
If the person appointed elects to hold a part-time contract, the duties specified above will substantially require the whole of the appointee's professional time and will involve a minimum work commitment equivalent to 7 PAs per week.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the training of individuals in the following training programmes, paediatrics, adult intensive care, and advanced nurse practitioners.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
4. MBBS or equivalent
5. MRCPCH / FRCA or equivalent higher qualification
6. Fully registered with the GMC
7. Completion of training in Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine (minimum of two years) in a unit/rotation approved for training by the RCPCH national grid training programme with evidence that this has been signed off by the PICM ISAC including six months of anaesthetic training

9. Experience in paediatric intensive care and paediatric high dependency care
10. Experience in leading clinical teams to deliver high quality critical care in the in-patient setting
11. Ability to offer expert clinical opinions in complex clinical cases
12. Experience in assessing clinical situations and providing clinical advice on critical care remotely
