We have a new opportunity to be part of our Structures and Materials team in the role of Lead Structures Engineer to coordinate team activities, perform analysis on composite components and systems, manage the department with clear guidance, improve FEA methodologies and standards, and oversee sign-off criteria and Type approvals for T&D.
What you will be doing:
* Supporting the Head of Structures and Materials by being responsible for the day to day management of a subset of Stress Engineers;
* Assisting the Head of Structures and Materials by providing clear direction, guidance and support to achieve the maximum development from direct reports;
* Analysing and providing comprehensive analytical reports to the highest quality of composite materials using a combination of FEA and hand calculations;
* Producing analytical reports to the highest quality;
* Proactively managing potential issues to a satisfactory conclusion;
* Maintaining and developing skill levels to industry standard and maintaining thorough and current working knowledge of FEA.
Key skills and knowledge required:
* Possess a thorough understanding of material behaviour combined with an in-depth knowledge of finite element techniques, codes and structures;
* Demonstrate a good working knowledge of Catia V6, Altair Hyperworks, ABAQUS and Laminate Modeller;
* Previous experience as a Senior Stress Engineer or Lead Stress Engineer in a Formula 1 environment;
* Previous experience in a supervisory role in a motorsport environment;
* Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills, to be self-motivated and to motivate others;
* Ability to calmly and confidently work under pressure to achieve targets and deliver results within required timescales;
* Ability to demonstrate strong written and oral communication and organisational skills;
* Possess an innovative and flexible approach to creative problem solving to deliver high quality solutions;
* To have a flexible attitude and ability to work as part of a team in a demanding and changing environment;
* Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of, and commitment to, Health & Safety.
This is a full-time office-based role based at our campus in Silverstone, with additional requirement to travel to other locations where necessary.
