Mission Training Devices (MTD) is looking for talented software developers to join its expanding team in preparation for exciting upcoming opportunities.
The role will be developing software for synthetic training devices, both stand-alone software applications and mixed-reality integrations. The role will also involve assisting in the development of other applications that will support the integration and operation of synthetic training devices.
The first project will involve mobile applications development and so it is highly desirable for applicants to have experience in this field, ideally with experience of deploying mobile applications to business customers. Additionally, experience or knowledge of mapping technology (map projection, geo-data conversions etc) is considered beneficial.
Experience with collaborative development tools is essential, with Azure DevOps and GitHub being highly desirable; experience of administering such platforms is considered beneficial. MTD develops software following the SCRUM development methodology, and experience working in SCRUM teams is advantageous.
The role involves flexible hybrid working, with most of the software development expected to occur at home. Regular travel will be expected to Farnborough for face-to-face meetings, with reasonable travel expenses remunerated. The amount of time required in the Farnborough office is flexible based on the candidate's experience and talent, and operational pressures.
THE PERSON
MTD is looking for experienced professionals who can seamlessly integrate into a growing team. The ability to work with other, like-minded professionals is essential but there will be instances where the successful candidate will need to work on smaller projects alone.
MTD prides itself on team spirit and the ability to communicate effectively will be essential. This includes both verbal and written skills from participating in regular departmental online meetings to code-reviews and face-to-face discussions.
A high level of professionalism is expected, and the successful candidate will need to participate in team and company activities both inside and outside of the department.
As with all professional teams, the ability to speak out must be metered with a willingness to engage and strive for self-improvement. Core understanding of theories and principles used in software development, especially in graphical and simulation settings (mathematics, geometry, vectors, matrices etc) are beneficial. MTD team members take pride in their problem-solving ability and are keen to expand this further.
MTD is embarking on several exciting projects that require our talent to expand and we are looking for like-minded individuals to become part of our dynamic team. If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you!
