Would you like to join an international defence company to support their clients by improving the capability, reliability, and availability of their most critical assets? Due to continued investment, this global business is currently looking for a Concrete Specialist - CSA to join their existing team in Plymouth (mostly remote working, onsite once every 6 weeks) on a 52-week contract.
The Role
As a Concrete Specialist - CSA, you will be advising the 14 Dock Readiness Project team and the Structures Technical Authority (TA), providing specialist input to concrete engineering. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
1. Review the existing Technical Specification (CDMS-000109234) for the works and provide any feedback on Section 7 'Reinforced Concrete' that needs to be taken into account.
2. Review, comment, and accept the Contractors Proposal/Structural Concrete Constituent Material Supply Report.
3. Review, comment, and accept the Contractors Proposal/Concrete Validity study on the target concrete mix design.
4. Review, comment, and accept the Contractors Proposal/Sensitivity study to evaluate the sensitivity of the concrete to accidental variations in batch masses.
5. Review, comment, and accept the Contractors Proposal to undertake tests to reflect these lower tolerances where the batching tolerances for the plant are significantly lower than those indicated in BS EN 206 (if applicable).
You
To succeed within the role of a Concrete Specialist - CSA, you'll have experience in a similar position and the following skills:
1. Minimum 5 years experience in the design and construction of Quality Grade 1 Class A Reinforced Concrete Structures, preferably with experience working in the specialist field of concrete materials (mix development, defect remediation, site construction, etc.) and specification writing.
2. A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
3. Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council or working towards chartership.
4. Associated with industry bodies, such as the Concrete Society or Institution of Concrete Technology would be preferential.
Please note that due to the security nature of this role, offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining SC security clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and will require candidates to be British Nationals and have lived in the UK in the last 5 years or longer.
