Senior Biomedical Scientist Haematology and Quality Lead
Performs a range of advanced healthcare science clinical activities and provides highly specialised advice within own Department. Leads a team of Healthcare Scientists and Healthcare Science Support Workers for own work area and provides training.
Holds additional responsibility as a Quality Officer for the Department. Travel between either sites as required with a primary base of Darent Valley Hospital.
In partnership with Beckman Coulter UK (BCUK), our newly designed and refurbished pathology laboratory houses a range of equipment including: Beckman Coulter DxH 900 Analysers and SMS2, IL(Werfen) TOP 700 and TOP 550 coagulation analysers, and Bio-Rad Variant II for Haemoglobinopathy screening.

Main duties of the job
Managerial responsibility for Biomedical Scientists.
Responsible to the Head of Haematology for the delivery of the Quality Management System (QMS) within Haematology, including ensuring compliance with ISO 15189:2022 standards and any other relevant guidance material.
Managing the routine work and staff rotas of the Haematology laboratory in conjunction with the training lead, operational lead, and Blood transfusion seniors.

Person Specification
KNOWLEDGE
* Detailed knowledge of theory and analytical techniques in haematology.
* Knowledge of current trends in haematology and the requirements of ISO.
* Specialised knowledge of techniques used in manual and more complex automated analyses.
* Knowledge and understanding of coagulation.
* Experience supporting registration, Specialist, and Higher Specialist Portfolio.
* Significant Morphology experience.
EXPERIENCE
* Experience in all areas of clinical haematology and coagulation.
* Experience of organising groups of staff.
* Experience of HPLC and PCR.
