The Opportunity
Responsible for carrying out hygiene processes in line with specified requirements. Maintaining and assisting the Hygiene Team Supervisor to deliver continuous improvement in your areas of responsibility and across the site, whilst encouraging best practice at all levels within the organisation to promote clean as you go and a right first time approach to hygiene. Responsible for meeting and exceeding the requirements and expectations of the position.
The role is primarily based on the factory floor, in a typical modern food manufacturing environment, although you may be required to work in other areas of the business from time to time.
Health, Safety & Welfare
* Promote and support a safe working environment and foster a culture of “safety first.”
* Ensure that cleaning activity in your area of responsibility is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the relevant cleaning instruction card.
* Maintain the working environment and equipment to meet internal hygiene standards as directed by the Hygiene Supervisor or Hygiene Manager.
* Take immediate action to remove hazards or reduce risks to acceptable levels.
* Support and drive the business accident prevention initiatives through reporting potential accidents.
* Ensure all relevant safety signs are used correctly.
* Use all equipment and personal PPE properly, ensuring that equipment is kept clean and maintained.
Food Safety & Legality
* Ensure the integrity of our products and never compromise product safety.
* Ensure scheduled hygiene activities are delivered at defined frequency to meet expected standards.
* Complete hygiene record sheets for your area of responsibility.
* Ensure the correct equipment and chemicals are used for the work being carried out.
* Adhere to and drive good manufacturing practices.
Quality
* Pursue the highest possible standards of quality in our products, people and plant.
* Ensure all hygiene standards meet internal specifications.
* Control your own personal protective equipment and report any incidents.
* Liaise with operations teams to ensure good manufacturing practices are followed.
* Participate in training and briefings related to hygiene issues.
People / Structure / Team Development
* Develop the best in everyone within their roles regarding EHS.
* Identify skill gaps or training needs and highlight to the Hygiene Supervisor.
* Be flexible within the role to cover holidays and absences within the team.
Communication
* Ensure good quality communications at the right time to promote teamwork.
* Be conversant with your KPI’s and how your role influences achievement.
* Participate in team meetings.
Planning & Control
* Maintain a structured approach to the delivery of the site strategy plan.
* Responsible for the appropriate storage of hygiene equipment and records.
* Ensure you are conversant with cleaning methods and techniques.
* Support Shift Managers to ensure planned hygiene activities are carried out.
* Report all absence or lateness to the Hygiene Supervisor.
* Achieve required output with minimum wasted effort.
* Promote improvement activities to increase efficiency.
The Skills you will bring to the team
* Previous food industry experience essential in an equivalent position.
* Level 2 Food Hygiene and Health & Safety certification.
* Self-motivated with a customer focus.
* Teamwork and cooperation skills.
* Ability to think and decide in a pressurized environment.
* Effective coaching and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
