About the role As a Quality Engineer reporting to the Senior Quality Engineer, you will become an integral part of the quality team. Working within the operations environment, your role will involve management of day-to-day issues as well as facilitating communication, coordination, and knowledge sharing of systemic issues with cross-functional teams. Your primary objective is to drive and maintain adherence to quality standards, and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities will include : Management and daily disposition of quarantined materials. Performing transactions to maintain system accuracy. Analysis of failure data and maintenance of material records. Producing management reports and performance metrics. Driving issues to root cause(s), corrective action and monitor for effectiveness. Supporting diagnosis and repair of complex electro/mechanical equipment. Co-working with the Purchasing team to develop local suppliers. Supporting and assisting with internal and supplier audits. Design and review of Quality Assurance related documentation. Interpretation of safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Identifying trends and opportunities for continuous improvement. Collation and analysis of field failure data. Interfacing with Research, Design and & Development teams for product improvement. Education and Experience: Essential Skills Previous experience in a Quality environment. Technical/Advanced Degree level of education or equivalent industry experience. Experience in providing manufacturing support, ideally in photonics industry. Demonstrable knowledge of modern quality and manufacturing systems. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma and the Quality Tools. Familiarity with Oracle or similar ERP systems. Computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office packages. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and strong analytical ability. A ‘’can do’’ proactive attitude and a creative and innovative approach in problem solving. Proven ability to follow procedures and complete assigned tasks to deadline. Strong time management skills and proven ability to complete work to schedule. Initiative to recognize and manage occasional deviations from accepted practice. Able to work as a part of team, but also a self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility and adaptability to change. Hands-on practical approach where necessary. Preferred Additional Skills Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO13485. Effective writing and presentation skills.
