Role: Business Development Manager

Salary: £38,000 - £50,000 + Car + Phone + Laptop + Bonus
Our Business requires an experienced and methodical Business Development Manager to work out of our Nottingham office in the builders merchant sector, covering the corresponding region.
The role will include new client initial interactions and onboarding, as well as the development of existing accounts, inheriting a warm desk with legacy clients and initial considerable billings.
This role involves selling a range of heavy side related products to subcontractors, house builders, and builders. Building relationships at all levels is essential, and this position requires a natural salesperson.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced external sales consultant from a construction or builders merchant background, although all sales backgrounds are applicable. Internal sales experience is also welcomed for those looking to build their own client base and earn considerable bonuses.
Responsibilities:
* Communicate regularly with and build business relationships with key personnel of your designated customer base.
* Work with Branch Managers to identify new sales opportunities.
* Collaborate with other branches and Key Account Managers as necessary.
* Follow up on all potential opportunities with customers.
* Obtain new accounts and grow them to maximize their potential.
* Maintain margin levels and increase where possible, as laid out by directors.
* Ensure all relevant sales opportunities outside your designated area are passed to the relevant branch for follow-up.
* React to specific sales needs as outlined by the Branch Manager, Operations Manager, or Directors.
* Support marketing and promotional activities within both the branch and field.
* Ensure sales and profit targets are achieved.
* Attend sales and other pre-arranged meetings as required.
* Manage your diary effectively, ensuring all calls and visits are recorded accurately in the relevant systems (full system training will be provided).
* Work with customers to assist with plans in the pipeline to prepare for upcoming projects.
* Maintain and cleanse your personal company ledger.
Branch Performance:
* Assist with stock takes as required.
* Develop and enhance working relationships with suppliers.
* Identify and develop new account customers while maintaining relationships with existing customers to maximize sales within the branch.
* Authorized to make trading sales and margin decisions up to defined levels.
* Work closely with other branches to ensure optimum use of stock.
Full training on company policies and procedures will be provided, but an understanding of the overall process and job role is essential.
