Job summary Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is the lead provider for perinatal services for the Yorkshire and Humber provider collaborative which went live in April 2025. In autumn 2025 there will be a further bed expansion to the existing and only mother and baby unit in Yorkshire and Humber, which will allow for inpatient care to be provided for mothers and their infants closer to their home. As part of this exciting expansion of our Mother and Baby Unit at The Mount in Leeds, we are looking for compassionate, dedicated, and skilled professionals to join our dynamic team. Main duties of the job The core purpose of the charge nurse role on the Mother and Baby Unit is to work as part of the leadership team providing and ensuring that quality assessment, care planning and care delivery is provided to all mothers and their families during their admission. This will include role modelling and the providing highly skilled nursing care, psychological interventions, clinical assessment, risk assessments / risk management, and promoting recovery and inclusion. The charge nurse will provide leadership, management and supervision / appraisal for staff and often lead / coordinate / supervise teams of staff in the delivery and evaluation of care. You will need to work flexibly and continuously network and engage with community clinical services and partner organisations; with the overall aim of improving service user experience and outcomes.
