Alexander Steele is working exclusively with an established food manufacturer who, due to growth and product demand, is looking to appoint a Customer Technical Manager at their facility in the heart of Essex.

The role:
1. Reporting to the Technical Director, the Customer Technical Manager will be responsible for the company's Retail Accounts from a technical perspective.
2. Manage customer expectations by delivering plans across Technical, Quality Improvement, Seasonal, and Supply Chain, all to be agreed upon and signed off by the customer.
3. Implement new customer standards as required for the business.
4. Ensure 100% of customers' specifications are set to approved, active in the technical library, and lead annual reviews of customer specifications.
5. Write and align all raw material specifications with customer specifications and CQM.
6. Ensure the quality, safety, and legality of dispatched products meet customer requirements.
7. Attend all benchmarking sessions held by the customer.
8. Meet KPI and customer expectations in full by holding quarterly reviews with customers and sharing outcomes across the business.
9. Manage outcomes of all out of specification results for chemical, micro, quality, isotopes, ensuring all deadlines are met.
10. Manage customer site visits proactively to deliver successful outcomes.
11. Ensure all packaging is accurately designed, cutter guides are signed off by all departments, meeting key legal attributes, and avoiding mistakes at launch.
12. Maintain a full and concise understanding of customer and individual depot requirements at all times.
13. Assist in the development of NPD, product launches, and new packaging designs and concepts.
14. With the assistance of the TD, undertake responsibility for the specification team through effective management control.
Experience and skills required:
1. At least 3 years of experience working in a Customer Technical role and experience with Major UK retailers (Tesco, M&S, JS, etc.).
2. A degree in Food Science or equivalent.
3. The ability to manage projects and improve processes.
4. Experience in food safety and quality management systems including HACCP and complaint handling.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
