Your Impact
In this role, you will be leading a team to expand Axon’s Evidence Playback and Video Analysis Engineering Teams. These teams sit at the heart of Axon, working to provide forensically sound evidence review and playback experiences that are core to our missions to Protect Truth and Accelerate Justice. Every day the work you do will be used by hundreds of thousands of police officers around the work. You will drive the technical vision for your team, facilitating collaboration and guiding them on architectural decisions, whilst always setting a high bar for standards of excellence. You will also bring a relentless focus on performance and quality, ensuring that every experience you deliver to customers is better than the last. You’ll join forces with product management and product design to understand the customer outcomes that need to be achieved. You will be empowered to build a high-performing engineering team that is customer-obsessed and encompasses a strong engineering culture.
Your Day-to-Day
Location: London, UK (Hybrid 2-3 days per week)
* Driving the execution of your team by leading planning, prioritization, stand-ups, and team retro meetings
* Leading the technical direction of the team through architectural discussions and code reviews
* Working with product managers and product designers to imagine and build crucial products that enable public safety agencies around the world
* Join forces with recruiting to hire a top-notch engineering team
* Managing engineers with weekly 1:1s
Basic Qualifications
We would love to talk to you if you have:
* 6+ years professional software development experience
* 2+ years of experience leading and managing an engineering team with direct reports
* Background as a Engineer, with experience in multiple managed languages such as Javascript/Typescript, Java, Go, C#, or similar
* A track record of planning and delivering on multiple overlapping projects spanning several months
* Experience implementing processes that emphasise security, availability, scalability, and operability
* Experience hiring and growing high performance Engineering teams in a SaaS environment
* Excellent communication skills, with an ability to take challenging technical concepts and make them accessible to broad audiences
* You love delighting end users and hunger for novel challenges
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
* Experience designing and delivering high-availability, scalable cloud-based systems
* Experience facilitating collaboration and alignment across remote, distributed and hybrid teams
* A track record of planning and delivering on multiple overlapping projects spanning several months
* Experience interviewing and hiring world class Engineers
* Track record of embedding shift-left testing approaches in your teams
* Experience working with Video Playback, Streaming, Codecs or Video Forensics will be highly regarded
