A new opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Integrated Therapy Team here at Pilgrim Hospital. We are looking to appoint into a new rotational post between Health Care of the Older Person Team and the Acute Medical Team. This would be a fantastic opportunity to enhance and develop your complex Occupational Therapy clinical skills and grow your leadership capacity. From this rotation you will gain clinical experience and knowledge within frailty, dementia, acute illness, oncology and long term conditions. Successful candidates must be confident in their assessment and clinical reasoning, be able to manage their time effectively and be a proactive member of the team.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to carry a complex caseload as a senior therapist, whilst supporting patients towards achieving their individual goals and assess patients needs for their discharge from the hospital setting into their identified place of discharge (e.g. home or community based rehabilitation settings), while taking into account their individual occupational needs. You will gain experience of the assessment process within the acute hospital and completing access and community visits to support discharge planning as required. Supervise junior members of the integrated therapy team, as well as supporting the development of the Occupational Therapy service provision within the acute setting. There is plenty of opportunities to develop and we are excited to offer staff support from our new Practice Development Occupational Therapist with in-service training programmes, clinical supervision and support through preceptorship, performance development review & peer group support.
