Our client is a highly reputable large international construction and property consultancy who have been experiencing strong growth for several years, and has now reached a crucial milestone in their development.
To continue fuelling their growth, they are seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to join their 10-person Building Surveying team in Belfast. You will play a key role in developing the regional presence by cultivating relationships with both new and existing clients within the private sector. This position marks the first of many planned hires in 2025, offering an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding team working on substantial projects in retail and commercial spaces and also working with numerous blue chip clients.

Reporting directly to an inspiring Director of Building Surveying, you will operate across Belfast, working with prestigious private sector clients to deliver a mixture of professional services and contract administration on key projects. This role provides an excellent chance to apply your skills and take ownership of projects while exploring new technical areas, while learning from a highly skilled team dedicated to your professional development.
Our client is currently engaged with a variety of prestigious private clients, presenting you with the unique opportunity to work on numerous captivating projects. They offer a fast-track career progression path, and if you have not already achieved chartered status, they will provide extensive support to help you attain it quickly. They help their graduates become chartered in 18 months and then go on to support their career to Associate in as little as 5 years.
Key responsibilities;
* Develop Building Surveying work in Belfast, focusing on commercial and private sectors
* Ensure high-quality and timely service delivery to clients, acting as the primary contact to build client confidence
* Manage internal job costing and resource allocation efficiently
* Perform design and contract administration tasks
* Conduct building/condition surveys, defect reports, and pre-acquisition assessments
* Oversee contract administration
* Handle dilapidations for both landlords and tenants
* Manage Party Wall and neighbourly matters
* Carry out design, specification and CAD duties
The ideal candidate
The successful candidate will possess a professional and positive approach, demonstrating the ability to collaborate effectively within a team and take initiative independently. Strong communication skills are essential for building relationships with stakeholders at all levels, as is a willingness to coach and mentor junior team members in the future. Adaptability and the ability to work under pressure while providing exceptional client service are also key attributes.
Requirements;
* Hold full membership of RICS or be working towards it
* Have a strong practical understanding of building surveying
* Possess at least four years of building surveying experience (we are recruiting more junior level roles in the team so please feel free to still apply should you not meet this criteria)
