Job Description
AECOM’s Port and Marine team in Glasgow is looking for a Principal Engineer with civil and structural knowledge to lead the team on multiple projects. The candidate will be a team player, self-motivated, and will support fellow team members while managing inputs and meeting client requirements to agreed costs and quality.
Job Duties:
1. Responsible for the planning, preparation, and successful completion of deliverables;
2. Have significant experience and knowledge of presenting calculations to a high standard of quality and able to utilise current computer software (including but not limited to ROBOT, GRLWEAP, WALLAP, TEDDS, PLAXIS 3D and others);
3. Check and review technical specifications, reports, and technical notes to a high standard;
4. Review and comment on design, drawings, and specifications to ensure timely and accurate results;
5. Mentor staff to achieve technical solutions and provide support to develop their knowledge and experience;
6. Communicate and liaise with other disciplines and clients to ensure clear understanding of scope and deliverables;
7. Assist in the preparation of tenders (programme, cost estimate, resourcing, preparation of written quality/technical input, etc.);
8. Experience of designing structures in the Marine Environment (including quay walls, piers, jetties, revetments, breakwaters, fendering, scour protection, linkspan supports, dolphins, etc.);
9. Good understanding of British Standards, Eurocodes, and best practices in the maritime environment;
10. Good understanding of CDM, Safety in design, and CEMD;
11. Experience in delivering projects over a range of cost and complexity;
12. Work in multi-disciplinary teams; and experience in the UK Maritime industry.
Qualifications
CEng / IEng qualified in civil or structural engineering – or anticipating achieving this status imminently. Be able to obtain SC Clearance.
