What you will do:
1. Chair statutory Cared for Child Reviews, ensuring decisions are made in the child's best interests.
2. Monitor the care planning process, ensuring timely and high-quality services for children.
3. Act as an advocate for children and young people, ensuring their views are prioritised.
4. Oversee individual care plans, keeping them relevant and compliant with statutory guidance.
5. Challenge and escalate issues when care standards are not met or when delays occur.
6. Provide professional guidance to social workers, carers, and other professionals.
7. Ensure compliance with the IRO Handbook, the Children Act 1989, and other statutory guidance.
8. Collaborate with social workers, foster carers, and professionals to ensure positive outcomes for children in care.
9. Maintain accurate records, and produce quality reports and recommendations after reviews.
10. Contribute to service development and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
1. A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, or equivalent).
2. Registration with Social Work England.
3. Significant experience in children's social work, with expertise in safeguarding and care planning.
4. Experience in a senior social work role, such as Advanced Practitioner, is desirable.
5. Strong understanding of legislation and best practices for children in care.
6. Exceptional communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
7. Ability to constructively challenge poor practice and promote high standards in care planning.
8. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with children, families, and professionals.
