Volunteer Pastoral Care Co-ordinator – Saint Catherine’s Saint Catherine's Hospice is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Volunteer Pastoral Care Coordinator to support the spiritual and emotional well-being of our patients, their families, and our staff. In this vital volunteer role, you will help coordinate and provide pastoral care, ensuring those in our care receive the comfort and support they need during difficult times. The Role The Volunteer Pastoral Care Co-ordinator will provide competent and compassionate pastoral and spiritual support to patients and their family members, by their invitation, on our in-patient unit (IPU). This support will be respectful of diversity of denominations, it will be part of the role to offer this support to anyone open to it, as well as to ensure that people of any religious persuasions are accommodated whenever they may need support provided by a representative of their own faith through links with community leaders. Key Responsibilities: Providing a pastoral presence for our in-patient unit, to support patients, family members, and staff (when appropriate). This will not include formal counselling or social work components because professionals of these disciplines are already available in the hospice. Liaising with key local denominations relevant to Saint Catherine’s patients and families, in order to be able to call on clergy or pastoral ministers, when needed to provide support or sacraments to patients (including, Church of England, Methodist, Coptic and Eastern Orthodox, Society of Friends, Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Seven Day Adventist). Referring patient/family requests for support from representatives of other religious or philosophical groups, to the Head of Community Services who will facilitate these arrangements (such as, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, Sufi, Jewish). About You You will have a genuine passion for supporting people during challenging life stages and have strong listening and communication skills, with sensitivity to the emotional and spiritual needs of others. The ability to work with people of all faiths, beliefs, or those with no religious affiliation. Why Join Us?
