WBTC is a work-based, not-for-profit, Independent Training Provider delivering a range of Apprenticeships across a variety of industry sectors and Study Programmes to young people between the ages of 16-18 (19-25 for High Needs Students) In addition, WBTC also delivers a variety of other funded programmes and commercial courses.
The job holder is responsible for the complete ownership of the finance function at WBTC.
Essential Knowledge & Expertise required:
* Relevant Accountancy Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
* Good knowledge of regulatory law and best practices in the financial world.
* Highly skilled in the use of Xero
* Proven ability at finance and management accounting for budgeting and forecasting.
* Be a proactive individual, comfortable challenging processes and making recommendations for improvements.
* Have experience partnering with senior stakeholders.
* Have excellent analytical and reporting skills.
Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Finance
The provision of our in-house accountancy services which encompasses the planning, organisation and related duties and responsibilities associated with the control of financial and statistical information regarding the operational performance of the business.
* Assisting the Executive Director in strategic finance – eg M&A, performance management of work-based learning/government contracts
* Assist in developing strategic vision, identifying areas of value creation/potential cost saving.
* Design and implement modelling for the purposes of monthly forecast, annual budget and bi-annual long term strategic planning. Provide commentary on principal variances.
* Accountability for management accounts, financial modelling, budgeting and scenario planning, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, vendor/partner relationships.
* Partner with management colleagues, providing financial support to aid decision-making process.
* Produce detailed monthly analysis of actual performance, and provide variance analysis/ insight from actual trading results.
* Compile cash flow forecasts and monitor performance on a monthly basis.
* Compile Statutory Accounts and Year End audit schedules. Liaise with Auditors and provide assistance as required.
* Manage associated duties, responsibilities, correspondence and statutory returns regarding the Company’s Charitable Status.
* Administering Invoices
* Credit Control
* Work effectively within the wider group structure for the purpose of financial reporting.
* To support in managing subcontractors including any financial requirements necessary to meet Funding Rules and the Subcontracting Standard.
* Utilise various systems to deliver and enhance the management information that drives decision making within the business.
* Payroll (through third party payroll bureau).
* Expenses management.
* Compliance - handling requirements of financial regulators, legal conformance around statutory reporting, staffing, contracts, privacy and other matters.
* Undertake additional duties as allocated by the Executive Director.
