Who we are:
Scripture Union Scotland is a national charity, with around 120 staff and over 2,200 volunteers. Our vision is to see every child and young person of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus.
We currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Business Manager to be based at our Lendrick Muir Centre, near Kinross. Lendrick Muir is set in 120 acres of grounds with accommodation for up to 150 guests. Children and young people have the opportunity to visit as part of a school residential, SU weekend or holiday, or with their church group. Whilst enjoying time in God’s amazing creation and taking part in some of the outdoor activities, they also have the opportunity to explore faith.
Purpose:
To support the Business Manager and administration team in ensuring the smooth operation of all administrative functions at Lendrick Muir. The Assistant Business Manager will play a vital role as the first point of contact for anyone interested in visiting the centre, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone who comes through the doors of the centre - teachers, guests, suppliers or contractors, but primarily each young person attending the event.
Key Responsibilities:
* To support the Business Manager as part of the Administration team, ensuring the smooth operation of all administrative functions at Lendrick Muir.
* To deputise, where necessary, for the Business Manager, by managing the administration of the Centre.
* To line manage the administrator.
* Working with the administrator to provide admin of residential bookings and day events.
* Participate fully in the life and ministry of the Lendrick Muir Centre and the wider Scripture Union Scotland organisation.
Who we are looking for:
We are seeking applicants who have experience of working in an office environment and have a proven track record in excellent communication skills in a variety of media, including telephone, written and inter-personal. Given the varying needs of the centre, it's important that the successful applicant is able to demonstrate customer care, diplomacy and adaptability with a wide range of people. Good organisational skills are essential.
For this post, it is important that you are committed to SU Scotland’s ethos, working principles and vision and are able to demonstrate this through your commitment and motivation. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is a committed Christian.
The successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.

Under the leadership of a new Bishop, the Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway is seeking to expand its staff group. You will be joining a small team of 5 who work alongside an honorary secretary and treasurer, as well as Bishop and Dean. For the majority of the week, the running of the office is overseen by the Diocesan Administrator.
Role of Finance Assistant
The Diocese is seeking to recruit a finance assistant to work alongside our book-keeper in providing a professional finance and accounts service for the Centre, as well as help and advice to 53 independent church charities (Charges) within the Diocese.
Ideally you will be someone with a knowledge of sage, excel, and payroll who can give backup to our current bookkeeper and honorary treasurer, as well as providing help and support to our Charges as required. You will be flexible, adaptable and used to working within a small friendly co-operative team environment with an emphasis on pastoral care. Ideally, you will have some experience of working within the voluntary sector.
The role is a flexible one with days to suit you and the office although ideally your work pattern should overlap with the current book-keeper, so 2 days from Monday, Wednesday or Thursday would be preferable. Some homeworking could also be accommodated. A pro rata salary up to £30,000 dependent on skills and experience is offered, together with a generous non-contributory pension, and holiday entitlement. The occasional Saturday working will be necessary for which there is a generous overtime/toil package available.

It is a new and exciting opportunity which should suit someone looking for a position that has flexible hours.
The successful applicant should have very good interpersonal skills, excellent initiative and be able to work on their own, have up to date IT skills and be familiar with all aspects of social media as well as strong written and verbal communication skills and good organisational ability. Some experience in a similar role and/or a relevant qualification is desirable.
