STA Engineer / Supplier & Parts Quality Engineer £47k-55k Coventry The Recruitment Bunker are recruiting exclusively for a STA Engineer for a leading group of companies based in Coventry. The primary objective of the role is to be responsible for ensuring the seamless integration of automotive components from the supply chain into production, by managing, enhancing, and improving supplier performance related to quality, costs, and delivery in line with product development process and running changes. The Suppler and Parts Quality Department are responsible for ensuring that all parts for development and series production vehicles are quality assured. Creating and helping develop the quality assurance activities within suppliers as well as internally to ensure seamless introduction and perfect vehicle quality. Responsibilities Managing and supporting suppliers for successful Supplier Launch readiness for all new model activities Implement and managing advanced product quality planning (APQP) methodologies to anticipate and prevent potential quality issues and support project milestones that result in on time Quality submissions Work with suppliers to ensure that all parts meet the part approval requirements in line with the product development timing and running changes. Develop part approval activity plans in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders Use of quality tools APQP, PPAP,8D, FMEA control plans, process mapping and problem-solving skills Work with suppliers to create component quality standards Collaborate with suppliers to establish and maintain robust quality assurance processes for automotive components Act as a liaison between the supplier, Design, Engineering, Programmes, Purchasing and Quality Departments Conduct supplier assessments and audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications Analyse and resolve supplier-related quality concerns, working closely with cross-functional teams Manage the supplier development process, fostering long-term relationships to enhance overall product quality Lead and participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes to address quality deviations Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain, optimising efficiency and reducing defects Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to implement best practices in supplier quality management Collaborate with internal teams to develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier quality Provide technical expertise and guidance to suppliers to ensure adherence to quality standards Work in compliance and conform to IATF16949 and ISO9001 standards Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related and equivalent discipline Proven experience in an STA role working on Supplier Quality Assurance within the automotive industry within an OEM or 1st Tier Supplier Knowledge of Manufacturing processes Knowledge and understanding of working ISO9001/IATF16949 and other relevant quality management systems Thorough knowledge of industry standards and quality requirements for automotive components Ability to carry out audits and monitor and report on Supplier performance Strong understanding of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and other quality management tools Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis Effective communication and negotiation skills to liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders Project management skills to lead initiatives and drive improvements Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality results. Strong interpersonal skills, and communication skills both verbal and written IT literate – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Clean drivers’ licence Must have IDLR/ Full right to work in UK- Sponsorship will not be provided.
