Oracle Principal User Assistance Developer in United Kingdom
Job Description
Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining user assistance and training documentation for Oracle applications. Collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders to design our next generation of user assistance technology and implement new embedded help delivery mechanisms that improve how technical information is delivered to our customers. Work with development teams to implement code for new user assistance mechanisms.
Responsibilities
1. Deliver accurate developer-facing content on time and with a high degree of quality.
2. API documentation, user guides, release notes, blog posts, reference manuals, white papers.
3. Review and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team.
4. Work closely with other team members to ensure consistency.
5. Contribute to polishing the in-house documentation standards, practices, and procedures.
6. Contribute to strategic initiatives around authoring environments and automation tooling.
7. Expand the existing documentation base.
8. Design graphics and diagrams to simplify complex concepts (optional).
Requirements
1. 5+ years of experience as Technical Writer, Technical Editor, Content Strategist, or similar role.
2. Upper Intermediate/Advanced level in English, both spoken and written.
3. Hands-on knowledge of Markdown/AsciiDoc markup languages.
4. Experience documenting highly complex engineering environments.
5. Ability to establish and follow content style and usage guidelines.
6. Strong drafting, copy editing, and proofreading expertise.
7. Analytical thinking and content architecture skills.
8. Experience with project management software such as Atlassian, including Jira issue tracking system and Confluence collaboration tool for sharing the information, or similar.
9. Experience using distributed source code management systems, such as Git.
10. Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
11. Comfortable with agile, swiftly changing, dynamic software development situations.
12. Ability to work independently within a large and globally distributed software development organization.
13. Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
Preferred
1. Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar).
2. Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (or any cloud) products and security.
3. Git expertise and understanding of the entire development (CI/CD) pipeline process.
