Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant in the Cardiac rehabilitation Team at North Manchester General Hospital for 12 months.
You will be working as part of a Therapy Team to assist the qualified Physiotherapists and Nursing staff in the provision of therapeutic care and rehabilitation in an outpatient setting. You will be working predominantly with Cardiac patients; therefore, you will need to have an empathetic nature and excellent communication skills.
You will have the opportunity to work with the wider multidisciplinary teams and help in the planning of patient care. The role will also involve some administrative tasks and equipment management; general IT skills are required.
You should be able to work as directed by the qualified therapists but also be confident and competent in carrying your own caseload and reporting back to the team. You should therefore be able to demonstrate the ability to motivate patients to maximise their rehabilitation potential.
Main duties of the job
1. Assisting the qualified Physiotherapists and the nurses in the delivery of high-quality Cardiac rehab care to patients at North Manchester General.
2. Working directly with patients to support exercise programmes as directed by the Physiotherapists and Nursing staff and reporting back.
3. Assisting the team with some administrative tasks related to the cardiac rehab team.
4. Working with the wider multidisciplinary team and feeding information into and back from the therapy team.
5. Demonstrate excellent communication skills with patients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team.
6. Be able to motivate and encourage patients with their therapy, and also have an empathetic nature.
7. Administrative tasks and equipment management, including note writing, data collection for audit purposes; good general IT skills are required.

Essential criteria
* Evidence of achievement at GCSE pass level or equivalent
* Achievement of specialty-specific therapy competences within 1 year of appointment

* Health and social care related course

* Previous experience of working and communicating with the public in a health care setting
* Current relevant experience of caring for cardiac patients
* Experience of working within an exercise/physical activity environment
* Administration experience
* Flexible approach to working
* Good oral and written communication skills
* Self-motivated and an ability to prioritise own workload
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
* Proficient I.T. skills in Microsoft Office
* Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
