About the Role As the Leader of Computer Science, you will be responsible for overseeing the Computer Science department, ensuring the delivery of engaging and effective lessons. You will work closely with other staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, helping students to develop both academically and personally. Key Responsibilities of Leader of Computer Science Develop and implement curriculum plans that meet the standards and engage students in learning. Lead and manage the Computer Science department, providing guidance and support to other teachers. Teach Computer Science lessons to students aged 11-18. Provide one-on-one and small group instruction tailored to students’ needs, ensuring they receive the attention and support they need to succeed. Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies as necessary to ensure that each student is progressing towards their goals. Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to each student’s education and well-being. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported. Use a variety of teaching methods to engage and motivate students, catering to different learning styles and preferences. Requirements of Leader of Computer Science Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Prior experience in teaching Computer Science is essential. Excellent communication skills are crucial for effectively interacting with students, parents, and colleagues. Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain strong, supportive relationships with all members of the school community. Show a deep commitment to helping students succeed, exhibiting patience and empathy in interactions. Relevant qualifications or training in Computer Science education (desirable but not essential).
