The department completes a wide range of functions, but the primary aim is to provide equipment support to Blandford Garrison and its affiliated units. Blandford Garrison Support Unit sits within The Defence School of Communications and Information Systems (DSCIS) under the Defence College of Technical Training (DCTT), which is responsible for delivering all technical training across Defence to meet the operational demands of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force. DCTT has 2,500 military, civil service and contractor staff based across six locations and we value our diverse and inclusive workforce. Due to the nature of the duties, hybrid / remote working is not supported. Job description The incumbent will be a key part of the LAD team, working within the Armoury. Key duties include (but are not limited to): The inspection and repair of weapons and ancillary items. Maintaining associated paper and electronic records. Completion of engraving requests including ceremonial items, presentation pieces and unit property. The control of COSHH items within the Armourers workshop. Maintenance of issued tools and stock items. Responsibility for the security of weapons, parts and associated equipment in the post-holders care during the working day. Person specification The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, flexible and able to work without supervision. You will have an excellent attention to detail and strong verbal communication skills. You must have completed the Army Class One Armourers course (or other Service equivalent). Qualifications Army Class One Armourers course or other Service equivalent.
