We are currently recruiting for a Chef to join our team at one of our Independent Schools based in Shrewsbury SY2.
This is a permanent contract - term time only - 40 hours a week - Monday to Friday

Style/Type of food prepared:
1. The menu is very expansive and captures cuisine from the whole world. No two days are the same.
2. One day could see us visiting the shores of India, followed by Mexico the next. The core menu is quintessentially British, but as Wilson Vale's ethos is education in cultures and cuisines, we are keen to explore the globe.
Job description of the role
3. The responsibility of the Chef within the kitchen at Prestfelde is to support the Chef Manager in whatever duties are needed for the day.
4. The main element of the day, will of course be preparing the menu for the various services and events, but this is not exclusive.
5. All due diligence and paperwork will need to be completed, there will an expectation of keeping the kitchen clean, whether that's preparation surfaces, Pot-wash, sweeping and mopping. Every job in the kitchen is everyone's job, including the Chef Manager.
6. Delivery receiving and checking, temperature controls, and Allergen briefings will also be important.
7. Collaboration with the Chef Manager on menu planning, hospitality coordination and event planning will form a part of the role also, along with learning the Company specific computer based bookwork and procedures.
8. All holidays accrued will only be allowed to be taken within the school holidays, no holidays will be authorised for term time dates.
9. A successful application will follow a successful enhanced DBS check, the prospective candidate will not be able to start until we have that confirmation
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
10. Have experience working in a similar role and environment
11. Be highly organised and comfortable working in a high-pressured environment
12. Ensure you have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
13. Keep up standards of hygiene and ensure all areas are clean and tidy
14. Have excellent customer service and social skills
15. Be responsible for the preparation and serving of food to staff
16. Have a can do attitude and will work well as part of a team
