Contract Support Commercial Manager

Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the commercial activity linked to day to day operations is both profitable and managed. The candidate will support various business functions, providing information, coaching, and introducing new processes, with the principal focus being on protecting business profit and reducing unnecessary spend.
A successful candidate will provide quality outputs, as required, for both internal and external stakeholders. This role will have line management responsibility for a small team.
Responsibilities
In this role you will be required to routinely investigate Arcus client spend to ascertain commercial viability of Arcus contracts, and suggest and facilitate activities to continuously improve profitability and departmental efficiency.
You will define and deliver (with the support of MI) manager level reporting to field departments to highlight all cost related issues including incorrect costs and apportionment, and work with the Operations Contract Support team, and operational functions, to ensure that the functions are upskilled/trained to deliver the expected service.
Other responsibilities include:
1. Maintain strong relationships with support departments to identify opportunities to improve overall commercial performance
2. Assess financial risks involved with new initiatives
3. Ensure all deadlines are met for billing and commercial aspects of contractual compliance
4. Identify opportunities where change to process, or behaviour, will increase revenue/profit
5. Provide strategic updates on how the business can increase profitability, and reduce identified revenue losses
6. Produce transactional spend reporting, with summaries of spend activity
7. Support other business areas develop operationally sound and commercially aware processes
8. Review introduced changes, to determine success or further change
9. Support department leaders identify areas of opportunity, to improve the quality & accuracy of purchase order generation, and records associated to self-procure processes
10. Represent the department mobilise new contracts/agreements, as part of the mobilisation team
11. Work proactively with the Supply Chain team to address problems before they escalate with suppliers and service providers
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a strong administrative background with experience in operations support and commercial analysis. You should have the ability to interrogate data, mainly using Excel and a working knowledge of Microsoft Vision or other process/workflow mapping software.
Other qualifications include:
1. A relevant degree or qualification is advantageous
2. Have experience leading a successful team
3. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
4. Ability to operate specialist software/systems
5. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
6. Good analytical skills and deadline driven
7. Deliver tasks with a high degree of accuracy
8. Team player but capable of working on own initiative to fully understand implications of changes and effective working methods
9. Excellent organisational skills
Salary: c£45,000 per annum (pro rata) depending on experience
up to 10% bonus scheme, subject to achievement of targets
