As a Wastewater Process Scientist, you’ll join the team managing our Perth Waste Water Treatment works and surrounding sites, leading our Operations colleagues with Process Science and Engineering initiatives, beating wastewater and biosolids compliance targets, and overcoming operational challenges.
What you’ll do:
1. Provide operational and scientific expertise to Wastewater Operations to help maintain treatment works compliance, responding to failures or operational emergencies.
2. Organise and complete regulatory failure investigations to identify and resolve the root cause of non-compliance.
3. Monitor asset performance through sampling, analysis of scientific data, and leading initiatives to maintain and improve performance.
4. Utilise analytical skills (Excel & Power BI) for forecasting and reporting on all aspects of the asset in relation to effectiveness, efficiency, and performance.
5. Support the continuous improvement process through stakeholder engagement and involvement in Waste Water Process Science working groups & improvement initiatives.
6. Be committed to health & safety priorities & procedures and support the continuous improvement of team health & safety objectives.
What you’ll need:
A strong process engineering or scientific background, ideally with a relevant degree or experience, and robust knowledge and experience of wastewater and biosolids treatment, processes, and instrumentation.
You’ll ideally have a high standard of analytical and problem-solving skills, be a clear and confident communicator, and have experience in report writing. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills are key for working with operators and other internal and external stakeholders.
The role requires a full clean UK driving licence and a personal vehicle insured and available for business use.

The not-so-small print:
In November 2024, we are moving to a 35-hour week to support the wellbeing and work/life balance of our employees. This role will be a Grade 6, starting at £33,560, with performance-driven pay progression to a maximum of £44,140.
