Job Introduction
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team at Brighton & Hove City Council. We are seeking an Environmental Health Technical Officer to join our busy Environmental Protection Team within our Regulatory Service.
You will deal with a wide range of environmental protection matters, including noise and other nuisances. We welcome applications from individuals with an enforcement or environmental science background, as well as those with a comprehensive knowledge of relevant environmental protection legislation and enforcement. Knowledge and experience in acoustics, environmental permitting, and/or contaminated land would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will work as part of a busy, flexible, friendly, inclusive, and professional team comprising five Technical Officers and two Environmental Health Officers.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
Part office / part home – hybrid - We support flexibility and employee wellbeing in our work while providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work-life balance and team collaboration. These will be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preferences agreed with your manager prior to joining.
Working arrangements are subject to Government guidance at the time. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team, and travel to and from your contractual location will be at your own expense.
