Job Title: Lead Ergonomist Location: Birmingham or London Salary: Competitive Excellent Benefits Package Type: Full-time, Permanent with Hybrid Working About the Role: We are seeking a Lead Ergonomist to play a key role in a groundbreaking infrastructure project. This role focuses on integrating ergonomics and human factors into the design, development, and operations of a high-profile transportation system. Working at the cutting edge of innovation, you’ll ensure safety, efficiency, and human-centered design across the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: Manage multiple contractors to ensure ergonomics requirements are met in line with project specifications. Provide technical expertise and assurance on ergonomics to internal and external stakeholders. Lead the integration of human performance into the design and operational processes. Analyse and predict the impact of new technologies on human behavior, especially in high-performance environments. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to minimise risks and optimise safety and performance. Develop operational models that account for human factors in both system and organisational design. What We’re Looking For: Qualifications: Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF), or equivalent experience. Skills & Knowledge: Deep understanding of railway engineering, health & safety, and system safety. Expertise in designing processes for new technology integration. Financial and commercial knowledge of Human Factors contracts. Strong ability to produce and assure high-quality reports and strategic documents. Experience: Proven track record in safety-critical industries, particularly managing complex, multi-stage engineering projects. Experience in leading ergonomics integration into engineering design and ensuring compliance in high-stakes environments. History of working effectively within interdisciplinary teams. Why Join Us?
