Thurrock Council's Housing Department has an exciting opportunity to join an established team as a Repairs and Planned Maintenance Manager. This is a management position within the in-house Assets, Repairs and Compliance service that will directly line manage teams delivering repairs, planned maintenance, compliance, voids works, and a quality assurance team.
Thurrock Council owns and manages a housing portfolio of approximately 10,000 residential properties across the Thurrock borough in Essex. The portfolio varies significantly in size and build type, including high and low-rise blocks of flats, sheltered housing complexes, and street properties.
This opportunity presents a unique challenge for a self-driven and motivated individual with the vision and skills to drive service improvements in maintaining, repairing, and enhancing the housing portfolio.
Social housing is a unique opportunity to deliver real change for residents. In this role, the successful candidate will be able to influence and develop new programmes and projects to improve and enhance the housing stock.
Additionally, the successful candidate should have a keen interest in innovative renewable energy solutions, as a key aspect of the role will be to champion the Council's current and future sustainable/renewable energy development programmes. This will include identifying suitable and adaptable energy services, commissioning and managing project feasibility, and completing project grant or fund sourcing where applicable.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual who can self-manage their time while also working collectively with other housing services teams to improve service delivery to our residents and enhance the skill base within their team.
Applicants must be confident, proactive, and able to engage with a wide-ranging audience while being technically proficient in building works planning, procurement, and management.
Successful candidates will be supported in additional training and qualifications to ensure they have the required skill set to successfully fulfill these roles on behalf of the Authority.
Due to the wide spread of assets across Thurrock Borough, it is essential that the successful candidate has access to a vehicle that is insured and can be used for work purposes.
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check is not required for this post.
