As a Food and Beverage Team Member at the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood, you will play a vital role in delivering a memorable dining experience for our guests. Your main duties will include providing top-notch customer service, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean, inviting atmosphere in line with the hotel's brand standards. You just need to be a ‘people person’ – in this role it’s all about the guest We are a 24/7 business, therefore, flexibility to work a wide range of days and shifts is an important factor. Present menus, offer suggestions, and provide detailed information on menu items, specials, and wine pairings. Take accurate food and drink orders and communicate them efficiently to the kitchen. Serve food and beverages promptly, ensuring proper presentation and temperature. Anticipate guest needs and respond to requests or concerns promptly and courteously. Process orders through the hotel’s Point of Sale (POS) system. Handle payments, including cash and card transactions, ensuring accuracy. Ensure that tables, dining areas, and workstations are clean, organised, and well-presented at all times. Assist in setting up and clearing down dining areas before and after service. Adhere to health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards. Collaborate closely with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service. Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required. Support colleagues by assisting with additional tasks during busy periods. Upsell food and beverage items where appropriate, enhancing guest satisfaction and sales. Promote special offers, events, and loyalty programmes to guests. Collect and communicate guest feedback to management to help improve service quality. Address guest complaints or issues promptly, escalating to management if necessary. Competencies Good level of English required Previous experience in a similar role within a hotel, restaurant, or hospitality environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of food and beverage service, including wine and cocktail service. Professional appearance, proactive and reliable and positive attitude. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Basic knowledge of POS systems and cash handling. Ability to stand for extended periods and carry out physical tasks as needed. A team player with a customer-focused approach.
