The Apprenticeship As a Test Technician Apprentice at Caterpillar, Larne, you will undertake a Modern Apprenticeship Programme lasting between 3 and 5 years. You will gain practical experience and achieve academic qualifications. In this entry level position, you will have the opportunity to work with and contribute towards a co-operative manufacturing team and will develop your communication and interpersonal skills as well as use your initiative. Many opportunities will be available for Apprentices who are keen to progress to production and engineering orientated positions. The Experience Working with limited management to test standard product and make repairs as required were possible. Performing tests on generator sets to prove engineering design theory, loading requirements, shutdowns and alarms. Assisting the validation team with cooling runs, endurance, and vibration tests etc when required. Gaining a knowledge of interpreting basic electrical drawings to perform standard tests and fault finding when necessary. Documenting and analysing results of tests and providing appropriate feedback. Setting up and simulating testing for engine tests and special panel testing with the aid of the component documentation. Updating computer records on machine/progress faults. Automated SAP generated testing. Entry Requirement Minimum requirements (Selected applicants will be invited to attend an assessment centre). Should have a minimum of 4 GCSE's including Mathematics, English and Science or Engineering, Grade C or above or equivalent. Must be willing to undertake internal and external job and academic training to achieve required qualifications. i.e. NVQ 2 & 3 and technical certificates. Physical ability to fulfil the requirements of the job. NOTE: Equivalent academic qualifications to the above requirements welcome. You can apply with predicted grades.
