Who we’re looking for
At CBRE Investment Accounting and Reporting Solutions (‘CBRE IA&R’), we are hiring for a Fund Controller to join our UK Team in London. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, you will be responsible for service delivery to an agreed portfolio of clients in line with agreed client specific service level agreements.
In this role, as a Fund Controller for CBRE IA&R, you work in a successful and ambitious organisation that is leading in the Fund Accounting of Real Estate Funds, including open/closed ended direct funds, listed REITs, mutual funds investing in global real estate securities as well as private partnership and multi-manager funds. We also manage joint ventures and separate accounts meeting specific client investment requirements. You will join a team that provides core accounting services, plus investment/product support to the real estate fund range in the UK & Europe.
Within CBRE IA&R, you will be challenged to develop yourself, to extend your knowledge and skills and to further improve and professionalise various processes within the company.
What are going to be your main responsibilities?
1. Produce or oversee the production of Statutory Reporting, Investor Reporting, Board Papers, NAV Calculations, Income Distribution Calculations and Income Tax and VAT Returns for the UK, Luxembourg and Jersey Real Estate Funds or Special Purpose Vehicles where required.
2. Ensure that appropriate records are maintained for entities and underlying assets on our Yardi system and contribute to the Yardi strategy of the department.
3. Provide oversight of provision of services by third party service providers.
4. Provide transaction support for acquisitions, including assisting with the structuring advice, set-up of investment structures in accordance with tax advice, creation of new entities and close liaison with client’s investment team to ensure transaction closing is achieved as planned.
5. Provide operational support for the set up of new structures by working with the client’s structuring team, internal counsel, external advisors and Fund Managers to ensure that operating frameworks are set up appropriately and service providers are selected and appointed.
6. Provide operational support as required to Product Managers and others in the wider team to ensure that business objectives are met.
7. Present information to the Boards/Operating Committees/Others charged with governance.
8. Provide supervision/line management to more junior members of the team.
9. Build, develop and maintain good working relationships between the team and its internal/external clients and suppliers.
10. Work with others to ensure Schroder group policies are adhered to and that existing procedures/practices and processes are refined to reduce operational risk.
11. Provide oversight of and involvement in invoice authorisation and cash management operations.
12. Complete other ad-hoc projects and tasks from time to time.
What are we looking for?
1. Typical educational requirement: Qualified Accountant ACCA/CIMA/ACA.
2. Previous experience of fund accounting and real estate or private equity structures, gained in an audit environment or working for a Fund Manager.
3. Responsible for planning own workload against a background of changing priorities and/or external events for the month ahead.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work with a wide team.
5. Strong attention to detail.
6. Happy to get involved in a variety of tasks and projects.
7. Strong technical accounting skills and driven to keep abreast with current requirements.
8. Able to work autonomously, keeping your superiors informed of status as necessary.
