The StaffBank for Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust are seeking enthusiastic renal nurses to join our pool of Staff Bank workers, there are many shifts available. Depending on previous relevant experience & previous NHS experience, higher banding/rates can be discussed
Under the supervision of Sister/Charge Nurse is accountable for the total provision, organisation and direction of the nursing care for the patient in his/her care. Assesses, plans and implements specialised packages of nursing of care to patients as the named nurse.
Please be aware this role covers the below sites with the opportunity to book at any of the below. The sites also use specific dialysis machines so if we can add in the advert that experience in Fresenius 5008 for Epsom, Kingston and Croydon satellites and Nikiso for the Main HS at ST Helier.

3. Practisesin accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and other
appropriate NMC guidelines.
4. Ensures due regard is given to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of
patients and colleagues and that equal opportunities are practised.
5. To provide psychological and emotional support to patients undergoing renal
replacement therapy.
6. Acts under direction of the registered nurse in charge of the nursing team in
setting standards and expectations in the quality of care.
7. Takes an active role in maintaining effective communication with all
disciplines, patients and relatives.
8. Represents patients at multi-disciplinary meetings ensuring that their needs are
assertively presented. For example handover, discharge planning, attending case
conferences, team referrals such as Occupational Therapist (OT), physiotherapist,
pain team, tissue viability.
9. Ensures that all Trust and Unit policies and procedures are adhered to. Acts
according to the Health & Safety Act and manual handling practice.
10. Records all accidents or incidents and report to the nurse in charge. Informs
manager when about changesin circumstances which affectsafe and
competent practice.
11. Participatesin the safe storage and administration of medicines in
accordance with Trust Policy.
12. To take responsibility for operational issues in the absence of more senior staff.
13. Ensures that all clinical and legal nursing documents are completed
accurately and legibly and that their relevance is understood and
confidentiality maintained in accordance with Trust policy and NMC
guidelines.
14. Assists with the maintenance of necessary equipment and suppliesin order
to carry out nursing care with efficiency and safety.

15. Works in conjunction with the team leader or ward sister/Charge nurse to plan
safe discharge in coordination with Trust policies, whilst ensuring effective
communication is made with community services or other healthcare teams as
appropriate.
16. Has knowledge of the structure of referral mechanisms for multidisciplinary teams such as social workers, palliative care teams,
occupational therapists, physiotherapists and dieticians.
17. Works to ensure that the needs of the complex acute and chronic patient
group who have health care needs that are unpredictable in nature are met.
18. Undertakes any reasonable and relevant clinical or non-clinical functions
commensurate with grade. For example ensuring medical notes are available,
completing and faxing discharge summary forms, and transport forms. Along
with duties such as general refreshments for patients, carers. To ensure your
patients’ needs are met at all times.
19. Practises in accordance with the professional direction as stipulated in the
Trust’s Nursing & Midwifery strategy.
Clerical Duties
20. Ensures that the hospital notes are kept up to date with filing of results and
nursing records.
21. Ensures that IPM/ICM system is kept up to date.
22. Ensures that all patients have a follow-up appointment
23. Assists in the accurate collection of data relating to patient activity that may
be requested for audit purposes.
24.Protects patient’s confidentiality and acts according to the General Data Protection Regulation.
