Job Title: Multi Trade Operative (Wet Trade)
Location: Cardiff
Job Purpose:
The Multi-Trade Operative will be responsible for carrying out a range of wet trade tasks (such as plastering, rendering, tiling, and damp-proofing) in void properties within the social housing portfolio. The aim is to ensure properties are in excellent condition for new tenants by addressing any issues related to the wet trades and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plastering: Apply plaster to walls and ceilings, ensuring a smooth finish in void properties. This includes both traditional and modern plastering techniques.
2. Rendering: Render external walls, ensuring they are weatherproof and aesthetically finished, as required for each property.
3. Tiling: Install floor and wall tiles in kitchens, bathrooms, and other areas as necessary, ensuring they are level, secure, and neat.
4. Damp Proofing: Assess and address issues related to damp or water ingress, including the application of damp-proof membranes or other treatments.
5. General Maintenance: Carry out general maintenance in void properties, including re-grouting, repairing plaster and render, and patching walls as necessary.
6. Coordination: Work with other trades and contractors to ensure all tasks are completed to a high standard, within budget, and on schedule.
7. Health & Safety: Ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations, using the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a safe working environment.
8. Documentation: Keep accurate records of work completed, including reporting any further issues or additional work needed to the Maintenance Supervisor.
9. Customer Service: Provide excellent service to tenants and housing staff, maintaining professionalism at all times.
10. Quality Control: Maintain high standards of work to ensure that properties are ready for new tenants, focusing on quality and attention to detail.
Skills & Qualifications:
1. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plastering, Tiling, or a related wet trade qualification (or equivalent).
2. Experience in one or more wet trades (plastering, rendering, tiling, damp-proofing).
3. Knowledge of building regulations and health and safety standards relevant to wet trades.
4. Experience in social housing or residential property maintenance is highly desirable.
5. Full UK driving license (if required for the role).
6. Ability to manage time effectively and work to tight deadlines.
7. Good communication skills for liaising with tenants, contractors, and colleagues.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to £31,150.00 per year
