This Nurse position is based in a prestigious care facility with a beautiful location in Central Belfast. The role: You will work closely with a highly motivated team who focus on providing the highest quality care to a diverse resident group. The Role: Supervise and coordinate all nursing activities within the operating theatre, ensuring that procedures are carried out safely, efficiently, and according to best practices. Ensure the availability and readiness of all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies for each surgical procedure. Ensure that all surgical patients receive the highest standard of care before, during, and after surgery. Monitor adherence to infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment within the operating theatre. Implement and oversee patient safety measures, including correct patient identification, surgical site verification, and adherence to anesthesia protocols. Lead, motivate, and manage a team of theatre nurses, healthcare assistants, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Oversee staff scheduling and allocate resources effectively to ensure adequate coverage for all surgical procedures. Conduct regular performance appraisals, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for professional development. Identify training needs and organize in-house training sessions or external professional development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of the theatre staff. Ensure all staff are up-to-date with mandatory training, including emergency response, infection control, and new surgical techniques or equipment. Manage the inventory of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring they are properly maintained, stored, and replenished as needed. Work closely with the procurement department to source high-quality materials and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best possible prices. Assist in the preparation and management of the theatre department budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high standards of care. Monitor and control expenditure, identifying areas for cost savings without compromising patient care. Coordinate the scheduling of surgeries, ensuring optimal use of theatre time and minimizing delays or cancellations. Liaise with surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth. What we’re looking for: You must be a fully qualified General nurse, Mental health nurse or Learning disability nurse. 6 months Charge/ Lead Theatre Nurse experiance.
