Responsibilities
* Contribute in a senior role to the efficient and compliant delivery of all structural engineering design on the project, working with and reporting to the WSP Principal Structural Engineer and Lead Project Engineer.
* Ensure quality technical design delivery output, technical governance, and quality coordination within a multi-discipline project team.
* Provide day-to-day engineering design support and client liaisons regarding structural engineering issues, with design responsibility for parts of the structural design works on the project.
* Assist and support the Principal or Lead Structural Engineer in administering the structural design aspects of the contract, financial management of design costs, and team performance.

Minimum Requirements
* Preferably achieved ‘Chartered Engineer’ status, or as a minimum, will have all required attributes signed off and will be in the final preparations for ‘Chartered’ Review with a recognised professional Institution.
* If progressed through the ‘Apprentice route’, will have achieved ‘Incorporated Engineer’ status, or, as a minimum will be ‘EngTech’ qualified with a recognised Institution.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills using written, oral, and visual media. Ability to prepare reports, design concepts, and presentations.
* Developed drawing and sketching skills to produce drawings illustrating concept appraisals, feasibility studies, and final design details.
* With limited supervision and guidance, can solve structural engineering problems using a variety of suitable methods of analysis and media, including both traditional methods, using hand calculations, and computer analysis using proprietary software. Demonstrates an understanding of the limitations of such techniques.
* Knowledge, use of, and review of appropriate standards/Codes of Practice, specifications, and apply the requirements or recommendations of these documents on their projects.
* Knowledge of the properties and behaviour of primary construction materials, i.e., steel, concrete, masonry, and timber, to determine the advantages and disadvantages of the use of these materials and understand the principles of material selection.
* Demonstrates experience in construction techniques, construction plant and machinery, temporary support systems, material testing procedures, construction programmes, construction sequencing, etc. Ideally through a period of site experience on one or more construction projects.
