The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary is seeking a Finance and Administration Assistant to join our dedicated team and support us in achieving our goals. You’ll be handling day-to-day tasks within our finance and administration team and supporting the wider team across the organisation.
You’ll be part of a positive, dynamic team who work in a beautiful environment, surrounded by nature and the gentle companionship of our donkeys. If you have strong administrative skills, including bookkeeping experience, a love for animals, and a desire to make a positive impact, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
1. Finance tasks: Assist with basic activities such as processing purchase and sales invoices, payments, cash collection, reconciliations, and banking. Complete ad-hoc data analysis on request.
2. Communication: Receive and warmly engage with people contacting us by phone and email. Provide guidance, answers, and advice to callers, responding to or correctly routing their enquiries in a timely manner.
3. Donkey adoption administration: Enter and maintain accurate records in our contact database. Coordinate and support the fulfilment of our adopter packs.
4. Visitor operations assistance: Provide cover and support for our busy visitor operations team, including opening and closing routines, welcoming tour parties, organising our adoption hub, and general smooth running.
5. Events support: Assist with the organisation and delivery of our on-site events, helping to deliver an exceptional experience to all our visitors and guests.
6. Efficient general administration: Proactively support a wide variety of day-to-day administrative tasks, including assisting the General Manager and Senior Managers.
Skills and Experience:
* Proven bookkeeping experience required; a financial qualification would be an advantage (e.g. AAT).
* Strong communication skills, ability to provide information and advice verbally and in writing.
* Excellent organisation and numerical skills and a keen attention to detail.
* A self-starter with the ability to prioritise tasks, work to deadlines and manage a workload effectively.
* Ability to use a full suite of Microsoft applications with advanced Excel skills.
* Team-oriented, collaborate well with others and work towards a common goal.
