The Role:
So, what will you be doing as an Electrical Design Engineer?
* Developing control specifications for new products or modifications to existing ones.
* Designing electrical circuits for laser wire processing machines and other new products using ePLAN or similar electrical design software.
* Creating build documentation and parts lists to assist purchasing and production teams in procuring parts and building machines.
* Writing commissioning procedures to ensure a smooth transition of products to production and service teams.
* Collaborating with end users, contractors, and subcontractors to guarantee proper system design, testing, and installation.
* Investigating and resolving system problems identified during testing, acceptance, or operational use.
* Engaging with suppliers to identify cost-effective electrical solutions.
* Contributing to the continuous improvement of design standards for electrical and mechanical drawings.
* Staying up to date with relevant standards for electrical control systems, including EN60204, ISO 13849, and EN12100.
What are we looking for in our next Electrical Design Engineer?
* A minimum qualification of HND or, ideally, a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
* A strong background in electrical, controls, or automation engineering, particularly in the design and development of complex machinery.
* End-to-end product lifecycle experience—from initial specification to development, build, test, deployment, and support.
* Proficient in electrical machine/control panel design with a solid understanding of safety standards like EN12100, EN60204, and ISO13849.
* Hands-on experience with electrical design software, preferably ePLAN.
* Competent in creating parts lists, wire schedules, and cable schedules for machine design and procurement.
* Knowledge of servo amplifiers, stepper drive systems, and DC/AC drive systems.
* Familiarity with sensor technologies such as proximity sensors and through-beam sensors.
* Ability to create functional design specifications and IO specifications.
* Experience with robotics and vision systems, along with diagnostic tools, is a plus.
