Job Description
Geography Teacher
Full Time / Part Time Considered
Permanent Trust / Regional Appointment with likely posting 2025/26 to Outwood Academy City Fields for Maternity Cover.
Permanent Base for 2026 to be agreed with the successful appointee.
Outwood Academy City Fields is an 11-16 academy based in the friendly cathedral city of Wakefield. The Academy was rated Good by Ofsted in March 2022. We joined the Outwood Family of Schools in 2018. Excellent teaching and the highest standards of behaviour are at the heart of everything we do, and we champion innovation in all aspects of learning.
We are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to join our Humanities Department. This is a fantastic job opportunity for a teacher who really wants to make a difference to the lives of young people. Our single goal is 'Students First' and you will be joining a strong team of professionals working to this sole aim.
The City Fields Humanities Department is a supportive, relaxed and focused team of 3 historians, 3 geographers and two RS teachers. We are a mix of experienced teachers and those beginning their journey via Teach First. Our department is very well thought of within the Academy by students and staff and we achieve GCSE results that we are proud of.
Our curriculums are engaging and diverse and students receive 2 hours of geography teaching within year 7, one hour in year 8 and two in year 9. Both GCSE cohorts all receive 3 hours a week in years 10 and 11.
We have invested a lot of time and effort into our geography curriculum and provide students with the opportunities to learn outside of the classroom through fieldwork and educational trips. Students learn about topics that not only are prescribed in the National Curriculum but also those that we feel will make them into more enthusiastic and well-rounded geographers. Some of our best received topics include: Coasts, Amazing World, Asia and Africa, Wild Weather, Rivers and Climate Change. At GCSE, we follow AQA and geography is a popular option choice.
Outwood Academy City Fields is developing and growing in size each academic year, leading to enhanced career opportunities for staff looking to progress. You will be joining amazing Academy colleagues, both teaching and non-teaching, who are all welcoming, helpful and kind to one another.
If you share our vision, join our family!
