Practice Nurse
Salary: £39,000 - £43,000 FTE - dependent onexperience.
Location: Clay Cross Medical Centre and TuptonSurgery.
Temporary fixed term contract for 6 months (20hours per week) No out of hours working

Clay Cross Medical Centre is seeking an enthusiastic, forward thinking PracticeNurse with extensive knowledge and experience to join our highly committed PrimaryHealth Care Team.
The successful applicant will have the ability to work independently aswell as being a good team player. They will be an experienced practicenurse who can lead in the management of long term conditions. This includes theassessment of need, delivery and evaluation of care interventions andmanagement plans in line with best practice standards. The post holder will alsobe required to have general practice experience including use of Systemone.
Practice nurse skills including immunisations, wound care, cervical cytology and INR management is highly desirable. Accredited Long Term conditions training in diabetes or COPD and asthma are essential as is experience of working in a primary care environment. The successful candidate will also ideally be an independent non-medical prescriber.
Informal visits and discussions are strongly encouraged. Must be availablefor interview on 5th/6th November.
Main duties of the job
Our new team member will deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all our patients. In accordance with the practice timetable, and as agreed, you will undertake a variety of duties, including chronic disease management, INR management, wound care and contraception.
About us
We are a well-organised stable team and currently boast a GP Principal, 2 salaried GP (part time), 2 ANPs, 4 (wte) Practice Nurses, HCA and Phlebotomist. The management of the business is led by the Practice Manager with excellent practice administration support from the Care Co-ordinator, Senior administrator and 12 part-time receptionistsadmin staff. We have excellent working relationships with the wider healthcare community, including the local District Nursing team, PCN practices, Medicines Management Team, Palliative Care Services, local care homes etc. We are lucky to have the support of an excellent Community Matron. Job responsibilities
Works independently using own initiative and isaccountable for their own professional actions.
Administers adult and child immunisations andvaccinations in accordance with national and local programmes. Maintaincompetence in anaphylaxis and resuscitation techniques. Ensures safe storage,rotation and disposal of vaccines and drugs and adequate stock levels aremaintained.
Offers comprehensive travel health advice forpatients prior to travel including malaria prophylaxis, safe sex, food hygiene,sun protection, first aid and emergency medication, health insurance andvaccinations.
Undertakes procedures to include but notexclusive to, venepuncture, BP management, urinalysis, peak flow, spirometry,new patient health checks, pregnancy testing, suture/clip removal, earsyringing, cytology and wound management.
Undertakes collection, storage and despatch ofpathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears etc.,and ensure cleanliness of equipment used.
Recognises areas of concern and gatherssufficient information to refer drugs, domestic violence, childprotection, vulnerable adults, senior patients, social problems.
INR monitoring and warfarin management.
On successful completion of independentnon-medical prescriber accredited training and registration with the NMC,ensure safe, effective and appropriate practiceas defined by current legislative framework and local and practiceguidelines. The post holder must only prescribe within their area ofcompetence.
