About the Role
As a Support Worker in our 12-bed Young Adults Residential Service in central Derby, you’ll be providing care for adults aged 18-65 with severe learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and complex health needs. This role involves 24-hour care support, helping individuals move toward greater independence in supported living, or offering long-term care for those needing permanent placement.
Shift Details:
* Early shifts, late shifts, long days, or waking nights
* Includes alternate weekends
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain a safe, caring, and consistent environment for young adults
* Empower individuals to achieve personal goals, build confidence, and gain independence
* Serve as a positive role model, respecting each person’s dignity
* Deliver sensitive, high-quality support tailored to individual needs
* Promote equality and diversity, and assist in the service’s smooth operation
* Support individuals’ health and educational needs
* Encourage the development of life skills for independence
* Plan and participate in leisure activities
* Act as a keyworker, supporting individual care plans
* Follow all policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
* Participate in ongoing professional development
Qualifications & Experience
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, Residential Care, or QCF Level 3 equivalent
* Ideally of 2 years’ experience in a residential setting
* Ideally of 1 years' experience supporting people with learning disabilities
* Ideally of 1 years' experience with complex needs
